ICA has developed a sensor and the expertise to successfully and economically measure ethylene over the range commonly used in fruit and vegetable storage. The ICA electrochemical sensor is widely and very successfully used over the range of 0.5ppm to 50ppm. The range limitation prevents its application for produce requiring very low ethylene such as Kiwi fruit and is not suitable for ripening rooms requiring 100ppm and greater.
The portable ICA56 ethylene meter is widely used for testing for good ventilation in produce cold stores and used for checking the effectiveness of 1MCP SmartFresh treatments.
A fixed ethylene sensor ICA514 used for continuous ethylene measurement in cold stores and citrus de greening rooms with appropriate power supplies and recording equipment. A variation of this, ICA518 can be incorporated into the ICA6000 control system for ethylene recording in CA stores.
