The ICA38 controller provides simple and economic automatic control of a CA room for smaller installations. The base ICA38 is for a single CA store and will automatically measure, control and alarm the Oxygen and CO2 and measure and alarm temperature from up to 4 probes. The ICA39 version can be extended for use on up to 4 rooms.

The system has been designed to be simple and trouble free in operation the latest in modern display and analyser technology. For larger and more sophisticated requirements the ICA61 computerised system is recommended.

A small sampling pump is mounted through a small “Porthole” in the storage atmosphere which is periodically activated for a short period of time. The flow is monitored with a flow switch which will activate an alarm if the flow fails.

The sampled gas is measured using an infra red carbon dioxide analyser and an electrochemical Oxygen sensor. These provide very stable and accurate operation and calibration is infrequent. When calibration is required the system has a separate manual inlet for calibration gas.

All the readings and operational sequencing is displayed on a single LCD screen built into the simple PLC controller. This controller periodically switches on the sampling pump compares the gas readings with the required values and activates the appropriate control relays.

One output control switches on the air ventilation when the Oxygen in the room is low and another comes on when the CO2 is high. This relay can activate CO2 removal equipment which can be a scrubber, nitrogen or air depending on the product being stored. A third relay output can activate a nitrogen generator when the Oxygen is measured high.

The required settings can easily be adjusted on the front of the display. There are also hidden adjustments to set the timers for sampling and the control outputs.

As an option the room temperature can be measured from up to 4 probes in the room and these are also displayed together on the screen.

An audible alarm is included which will sound if a problem occurs. The alarm is for flow failure, oxygen low, CO2 high and temperature high or low.

For more than one room the system is expanded and becomes ICA39. The principle and components remain the same as the ICA38 but a single analyser and temperature measurement module is shared with up to a maximum of 4 rooms with each having their own display, controller and sampling pump.

The ICA38 is provided in a robust steel housing and installation is straight forward. It should be located adjacent to stores to minimise the sampling distance.
